Throughout the "
TUG OF WAR 2001" tour, NOAH ran a tournament to determine it's first ever GHC (Global Honored Crown) Tag Team Champions. Spanning throughout November, the tournament featured NOAH's heavyweight stars, plus an outsider in the form of ZERO-ONE's Shinjiro Otani. The final would in turn set up a major singles match later in the year.

Round 1: Tamon Honda & Masao Inoue beat Bull Schmidt & Bison Smith (13:58) when Honda used a shoulder hold on Schmidt.
Round 1: Michael Modest & Donovan Morgan beat Takeshi Morishima & Takeshi Rikio (11:27) when Modest used a high-angle front cradle on Rikio.
Round 1: Takao Omori & Shinjiro Otani beat Takuma Sano & Kentaro Shiga (16:41) when Omori used an Axe Bomber on Shiga.
Round 2: Jun Akiyama & Akitoshi Saito beat Michael Modest & Donovan Morgan (16:40) when Saito used the Sickle of Death on Morgan.
Round 2: Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa beat Takao Omori & Shinjiro Otani (19:58) when Misawa used the Emerald Frosion on Otani.
Round 2: Vader & Scorpio beat Daisuke Ikeda & Takashi Sugiura (6:53) when Vader used a lariat on Sugiura.
Round 2: Tamon Honda & Masao Inoue beat Akira Taue & Jun Izumida by forfeit.
Semi Final: Vader & Scorpio beat Tamon Honda & Masao Inoue (5:27) when Scorpio used a revolution-style diving body press on Inoue.
Semi Final: Jun Akiyama & Akitoshi Saito beat Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa (19:48) when Saito used the Sickle of Death on Ogawa.
Final: Vader & Scorpio beat Jun Akiyama & Akitoshi Saito (11:39) when Vader used a chokeslam on Akiyama.
