As a prelude to the regular March tour, "HYPER BATTLE", New Japan held a special mini-series based around the Japanese farewell of Mexican legend, Perro Aguayo. Aguayo, along with his son and several other Mexican superstars, competed in a chain of matches to commemorate Aguayo in Japan.

    Foreign participation:
    Mike Enos: All shows
Dr. Wagner Jr. (CMLL): All shows
    Negro Casas (CMLL): All shows
Perro Aguayo Jr. (CMLL): All shows

    Special participation:
Gran Hamada (Michinoku Pro): All shows
    Minoru Tanaka (BattlARTS): 3/4 only

    Points of note:

  • (3/3) The first of Aguayo's retirement bouts was a special 2/3 Falls Match, with Kanemoto, Otani, Aguayo, Aguayo & Jr. taking on Liger, Gran Hamada, El Samurai, Kashin & Wagner in a near-20 minute clash. Aguayo took the first fall, dropping a diving senton on fellow junior veteran, Hamada. Hamada got one back for his team, pinning Casas after the Hama-Chan Cutter. Finally, Otani struck Wagner with a swan dive kneel kick to secure the win for Aguayo's team.

  • (3/3) Current IWGP Tag Team Champions, Nakanishi & Nagata, suffered a non-title loss to their generation rivals, Tenzan & Kojima. TenKoji put away the champions when Kojima lariated Nakanishi.

  • (3/6) Perro Aguayo wrestled his final match in Japan, teaming with Wagner and his son to defeat Liger, Hamada & Casas on New Japan's 28th anniversary convention. Wagner sealed the win for the all-Mexican team, using a Michinoku Driver II on fellow luchadore, Casas.

  • (3/6) In a big tag main event to close the series, Chono & Tenzan overcame the strong duo of Kensuke & Iizuka when Chono used his patented Butterfly Lock on Iizuka for the win.
