On 6/6/01, NOAH's Jun Akiyama shook hands with New Japan's Yuji Nagata before Nagata's match with Kazuyuki Fujita. Shortly after this, the two announced they were forming a new generation team. The movement began on the 10/8/01 Tokyo Dome show, when they downed members of the old guard, Keiji Muto & Hiroshi Hase. On 1/4/02, the two met in a singles match, which turned out to be the start of an interpromotional series between New Japan and NOAH, as company pride overwhelmed friendship. The rivalry continues to boil, with no end in sight. Here is a complete record of the series, from the first major match to the most recent match (note: Yuji Nagata and Jun Akiyama's non-interpromotional matches are not listed, nor are Yoshihiro Takayama's, as he is a freelancer).
