Okada and NO LIMIT ready to battle seniors, Tayama leaves NJ by Stuart - 09 May 2008  Three young lions are ready to take on their seniors on the upcoming Zepp tour. Kazuchika Okada only just (re)debuted, but is not short on ambition. Okada plans to win all five of his trial series matches - opposite Goto, Nakamura, Taguchi, Liger, and Kanemoto - then challenge Keiji Muto for the IWGP Heavyweight Title. Kuniaki Kobayashi has labelled Okada the "second Nakamura", so such a feat would allow him to live up to that billing. NO LIMIT are also looking forward to their tag series, and claim that despite not being in main events, they are in the leading role of this tour. Yujiro is especially looking forward to their non-title match against MVP team, Makabe & Yano. Referee Masao Tayama's contract with New Japan expired at the end of April and he has left the company. Tayama is a New Japan trueborn and tried to become a wrestler, going to Mexico in 1991, but opted to be a referee and officiated his first match on November 10th of that year. In later years, he became the caretaker for foreign wrestlers in New Japan, but the 37-year-old has decided to move on now. Tiger Mask has another trip outside of New Japan coming up, following the announcement that he will appear for Real Japan on 6/19. One day later at the same building, Korakuen Hall, he will return to his old haunt Michinoku Pro for the company's 15th anniversary show. There, he has a match against Jinsei Shinzaki's disciple, Shinjitsu Nohashi. Green Destiny needs a webmaster! by Stuart - 08 May 2008 After several years of Pro Wrestling NOAH coverage, RD/Chris has decided to leave his post as webmaster of Green Destiny. Please join me in thanking him for all his work and effort in running the site. Now comes the tricky part for me - finding a replacement webmaster to run Green Destiny. This is not something I take lightly, as Green Destiny is one of the "flagship" sites of the puroresufan.com network, and in all honesty I'd rather have no webmaster at all than a shoddy one. So I am making a call for people to email me with applications as to why they would be a good webmaster for Green Destiny. Here are the absolute minimum requirements: - You must be a devout fan of Pro Wrestling NOAH and willing to cover the promotion through high and low points. There are no perks to this job except satisfaction and the knowledge that thousands of Pro Wrestling NOAH fans are reading your content. - You must be absolutely sure you *will* keep updating the website once the initial novelty has worn off - too often have I had webmasters who trail off a few weeks or months after site launch. Obviously, unavoidable circumstances may cause you to have to give up the role, but I am trying to avoid recruiting someone who will grow bored after a while and walk away. - You must be willing to try and bring the permanent site content (results, history, roster page) up to date from 2005 - this could take time and there is no rush, but gradually bringing it up to speed is requested. - You must have basic knowledge of HTML code and FTPs. The site has a news script that only requires basic code such as bold tags. The permanent .php pages are also very easy to maintain as they are basically all templates of one another. FTP knowledge is necessary though, so you know how to upload files and all that. Note: I will consider complete site overhauls if it hosts all the necessary content and looks appealing. - You must have a firm grasp of the English language and be able to use good grammar and punctuation. The site receives thousands of readers of all nationalities, and it must be readable to all of them. - You may enlist the help of friends to write profiles, results, and so on, but ultimately *you* are in charge of running the site. New Japan's Tiger Mask will enter Satoru Sayama's Real Japan promotion on June 19th at Korakuen Hall. Although his match hasn't been announced yet, it looks likely that he will face his teacher in tag action, possibly leading to a future singles match. Tiger has suggested reforming his tandem with Minoru Suzuki from 2004 in New Japan to face the original Tiger Mask and a partner of his choosing. New Japan and DDT were on bad terms not too long ago, but these days, New Japan is working with almost everyone and has become a popular group to affiliate with again. After the match, Liger promised that he and MIKAMI would have a singles match in DDT some time soon. [Results] PREMIUM, 5/5/08 & LOCK UP 5/18 card by Stuart - 05 May 2008  Masahiro Chono packed Korakuen Hall with chapter one of "PREMIUM", his New Japan-backed brand of professional wrestling. Twenty-four wrestlers from various promotions and affiliations made up an attractive card that saw plenty of variety and unique pairings. For example, the main event had wrestlers from three promotions, as NJ's Chono teamed with ZERO1-MAX young superstar and a man Mr. G1 has taken interest in, Kohei Sato, to defeat ZERO1-MAX boss Shinjiro Otani and Big Japan star Daisuke Sekimoto, Chono submitting Sekimoto with his new STS (STF + sleeper hold). Former tag partners turned rivals, Manabu Nakanishi and Yutaka Yoshie, at last reunited in the ring, in a 24 minute power fight that was said to have stole the show. Korakuen fans were stomping in enthusiasm by the end, and despite quite some time apart, the result was the same as in the past, Nakanishi pinning the ace of DRADITION with a German suplex hold. A surge in form could lead Nakanishi to his first IWGP Heavyweight Title shot in about half a decade, with speculation increasing that he and Muto could collide soon. Legend's Tatsumi Fujinami of DRADITION and Jushin Thunder Liger of New Japan bested Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Tiger Mask, Fujinami using his original Dragon sleeper to finish off Tiger. Tanahashi, who was on commentary, shook hands with Fujinami after the match. [Results] New Japan, 5/2/08 by Stuart - 02 May 2008  The icon of the third generation is back! Yuji Nagata returned after over two months out with a somewhat scary brain injury that could have threatened his career, but turned out to be just a scare. Watched by his younger brother Katsuhiko, Nagata led generation friends Nakanishi and Kanemoto to victory over the ZERO1-MAX trio of Masato Tanaka, Ryouji Sai & Ikuto Hidaka. As expected, there was some fierce fighting between Nagata and the on-fire Tanaka, but it was Nakanishi who made the difference today, dropping Sai with his Hercules Cutter for the win. Nagata said on the microphone after the match that he is back, and that fans needn't be worried about him. Hirooki Goto continued his good form, winning an exciting and hard-hitting war against GBH's Tomohiro Ishii, who he has been feuding with of late, leading to this singles match. Goto won with his Shouten and pushes forward to a possible challenge for Keiji Muto's IWGP Heavyweight Title. The great traitor, Takashi Iizuka, appeared with a skinhead, sling, and bandages today, apparently in no condition to face the man he betrayed, Hiroyoshi Tenzan. Iizuka fought a rough, dirty heel style, and called in GBH support to destroy Tenzan, leading to referee Tiger Hattori throwing the match out and the fans hurling abuse at GBH. What is likely to be a long, bitter, and bloody feud between Tenzan and Iizuka escalated. NJPW "AGGRESSIVE", 5/2/08 (SXW) Tokyo Korakuen Hall 1,850 Fans - No Vacancy 1. Best of the Super Jr. XV outline announced! by Stuart - 02 May 2008 The 2008 Best of the Super Jr. XV tournament is looking to be an exciting one, with the usual cast of Japan's elite veterans, plus New Japan's up-and-comers, and a couple of special outside entrants. Returning after a long time are Legend's AKIRA, who is working more New Japan dates now than he has for years, and ZERO1-MAX star, Tatsuhito Takaiwa, who won the 2000 installment of this tournament, en route to beginning his only IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title reign to date. TNA's Jimmy Rave also heads to New Japan for the first time, appearing in Block B. The winner of the tournament, to be decided on 6/15 at Korakuen Hall, will not only earn five million yen, but also win a place in the 2008 G1 Climax.
