  • On 8/25/99, Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa (AJPW World Tag Team Champions) defeated Takao Omori & Yoshihiro Takayama (All Asia Tag Team Champions) to become double tag champions. Given the midcard nature of the belt, and Misawa's high ranking as leader of All Japan, he immediately vacated the title after the match to give chances to other wrestlers. A five team tournament was set up for the "OCTOBER GIANT SERIES 1999" tour. As the match times suggest, this was a hard fought round-robin league, with all but one match passing the 20 minute mark.
